Infinity Day
What does it mean for something to go on forever? This Infinity Day, we’re celebrating one of math’s most mind-bending concepts with events nationwide, and discovering all the surprising corners of the universe where infinity quietly lives.
Simons Foundation Presents: Math in Bloom
Infinity is often thought of as an abstract mathematical idea, yet echoes of it appear throughout the natural world. From the endlessly repeating patterns of fractals to the continual cycles of growth, regeneration and adaptation, mathematics offers new ways of seeing the living systems around us. Join us this August at the Simons Foundation for a free public event that explores the intersection of math, society and culture. This month’s conversation will explore the mathematical beauty of nature with the team behind Queens Botanical Garden’s Math in Bloom initiative. Hear about how they are inviting visitors to experience familiar displays of flora and fauna through a fresh mathematical lens, and get a preview of the garden's upcoming Infinity Day celebration.
